WATCH THIS HEATED RIVALRY X TAME IMPALA EDIT
Source Material: Heated Rivalry (Crave)
Music: “Dracula” by Tame Impala
Year: 2025
THE CONCEPT
Unlike many edits that begin with music, this one started with a visual idea.
The goal was to create a fast-paced edit for Heated Rivalry. I wanted to make something sharper and more kinetic than the lyric-driven pieces in my portfolio.
Because the visual concept came first, the search for the right song happened afterward. The instrumental intro to “Dracula” by Tame Impala eventually emerged as the right fit. Its driving rhythm and sharp tone matched the intensity between the two protagonists fairly well.

CREATIVE APPROACH
The editing process centered on rhythm.
Initially, the project was paused because the beat structure of the track felt difficult to align with the footage. After revisiting the edit later, the internal rhythm of the song became clearer, revealing a sequence of beats that could anchor the visual pacing.
From there, the structure of the piece emerged: fast cuts, sharp visual transitions, and escalating intensity that mirrors the momentum of the track.
Unlike some of the more literary edits in my portfolio, this piece leans into energy and movement. The pacing is intentionally aggressive, allowing the music to drive the visual experience rather than the other way around.
The result is a compact, high-intensity edit that performed fairly well on Instagram.
