WATCH THIS FRANKENSTEIN (2025) EDIT SET TO ROSALÍA’S BERGHAIN
Source Material: Frankenstein (2025) dir. Guillermo del Toro
Music: “Berghain” by Rosalía
Year: 2025
THE CONCEPT
This edit brings together two works released within weeks of each other: Rosalía’s “Berghain” and the film Frankenstein.
“Berghain”‘s dramatic orchestration matches well with Frankenstein‘s gothic aesthetic. The opening German lyrics, “his fear is my fear / his anger is my anger / his love is my love / his blood is my blood,” echoes the central dynamic of Victor Frankenstein and the creature he brings into existence. This edit was a way for me to explore the complex relationship between creator and creation.

CREATIVE APPROACH
This edit shares a similar visual language as previous edits of mine using the same song. Typography, lyric timing, and color treatments follow a consistent structure that creates continuity between these projects.
For Frankenstein, the visual elements were adjusted to match the film’s darker color palette and period atmosphere.
The opening sequence also introduces dialogue from the film before the song’s lyrics come in, allowing the narrative stakes to establish themselves first.
The edit gained notable attention online, including a public reaction from Academy Award–winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro, who directed this film.

Berghain – Rosalía (Frankenstein 2025)
Rosalía’s track “Berghain” underscores a visual meditation on Frankenstein and the creature he brings to life. Through mirrored imagery and slow, atmospheric cuts, the edit blurs the line between creator and creation, and caught the attention of Guillermo del Toro himself.
